Formerly known as Ship Inn, then the Crown Hotel.
Burrows & Gladstone began running the mail in April 1862 and they used the newly opened Ship Inn. Mr Crews (contractor from 1877-1880) advertised that the Ship Inn was his booking office and depot.
In 1878 while Mr JT Winterbottom was licensee, the building was renovated and the hotel was renamed the Crown Hotel.
(Since changed to Crown Inn Hotel).
When Mr Gall began running the coaches to and from Meningie he changed the booking office to the Royal Mail Hotel (opened 1867)
It is uncertain whether the Ship Inn was continuously the booking agent from 1862-1877.
